Our excursion to the Shrine of Remembrance was truly incredible. Students arrived at school in the morning and since the weather was nice, we didn’t mind hopping on a tram to the Royal Botanic Gardens.
After taking some photos on the way to the Shrine, which is always fun while on excursions, we started exploring the shrine on our self-guided tour. Set in an underground chamber beneath the shrine, there were galleries where we were invited to a special exhibition of sundry objects, uniforms, and works of art, all illustrating the experience of Australians during wartime.
To make the experience even more delightful, we all made our way to the top of the shrine. There were lots of steps to reach the top, but it was worth it as the view was breathtaking and we had a huge chunk of Melbourne in front of us.
After walking through the gift shop and having a look at the beautiful range of botanic-inspired gifts, we decided to have our lunch somewhere in the city. We called it a day with a delicious lunch at Melbourne Central and talking about our memorable experiences in Australia.
