The students enjoyed a wonderful excursion to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. As their current unit of study has to do with environmental issues in Australia, the excursion has been designed to assist them in discovering and discussing topics of importance in a safe and stimulating outdoor setting.
The field trip was organized by our own Ella and Dimitar; it commenced at the E-gate Lodge, at about 10.30am and it concluded with a picnic, next to the Gift shop. Mark, with his wealth of knowledge regarding Australian environment and native plants and species, was our designated tour guide, and Seok assisted him all through the hike. The students were taken through Fern Gully to the Central Lake and from there to the Rose Pavilion and beyond. The whole trek took approximately two hours, and when it finished at the Café Terraces, Ella and Dimitar had already prepared a well-deserved picnic and had been waiting for them to arrive.
The students seemed very happy and relaxed as they feasted on one of Melbourne’s last true sunny days and the vibrant colours of the Australian autumn.
