Twas early morning on a dark Friday, the 20th day of October, to be exact. I remember distinctly, the air was eerie and the school was gloomy – something spooky had besieged our hearts, for it was a Halloween party and Orange International College had decided to make it epic.
Despite Halloween being celebrated on the 31st October, we decided to throw a spooky party a few days earlier to accommodate all of our students and to make sure that all assessment work was completed before we could have a bit of fun.
The day started wonderfully, with most of the students coming to school earlier to put make up on and to get dressed in their costumes. Some brave souls came to school in their actual costumes and wearing makeup. To them, we would like to say, “We salute you!”
Before the start of the party, our very own Dimi (Certificate III in EAL trainer/assessor) made a delightful little presentation on the origins and history of Halloween.
And then…the clock struck eleven (in the morning). The party came alive, all of the students began playing games and doing fun activities. Some even won a few prizes. We played Spooky Hangman, Spooky Pictionary and Who-Am-I (with spooky characters and famous celebrities). The last game, for which some students won cinema tickets, was mummy wrap.
All in all, it was a fantastic day and we hope the students had as much fun as we did.
