Renting is one of the many challenges an international student may face in Australia. That is why Orange International
College oraganised a Rent Assistant workshop, aiming to offer help and give information to international students so that
they have a better understanding in renting in Melbourne, especially for those who are currently experiencing a renting
problem.
We were honoured to have Sandra Youkhana and Cassandra Quinn, who are both representatives from Consumer Affairs
Victoria (CAV) to be our presenters. CAV is a government authority that provides information on renting, and assists
international students with their renting questions or problems.
During the workshop, we explained how the rental bond works and helped the students figure out whether to sign a rental
lease or not.
We also provided information about what to do when there are issues with repairs at a share house.
We hope that the students found this workshop helpful and we will continuously organising such events to try and make
students’ lives in Australia easier.
