This week we celebrate Women in construction week.
We believe that we need to change the stereotypes that women face when it comes to careers. We encourage women to follow their passions, whatever they are. We want a construction industry where women can fully participate in.
Our Building and Construction courses welcome women, making sure that we offer a respectful and equal atmosphere.
The construction industry has many places where women can advance and built a career for themselves.
Are you interested in our Building and Construction courses? We offer Carpentry, Painting and Decorating and Building and Construction courses. Have a look at our website or drop us a line at info@orange.edu.au
Meet our Carpentry students, Marqui Angela and Liza May. They are two wonderful women from the Philippines who are studying Carpentry at our Port Melbourne Campus.
They agree that the atmosphere at the campus is very friendly and equal. “We don’t feel any difference on the treatment. They treat us all the same way.” says Marqui Angela.
Also, they talk about the importance of doing what you love, despite your gender. “We really enjoy the course. It is our passion to build stuff.” reflects Liza May.
Get inspired by them and come to study with us!

Laura Goncalves is our Carpentry student from Venezuela and she is passionate and full of plans for the future.
“I chose Carpentry because I worked with my husband and I felt attracted to the tools and making things. I want to work with door frames and fences. This is my passion and there are so many opportunities out there.
After this course, I want to continue studying. I want to study Building and Construction. Knowledge is power – the more you know, the more opportunities you have.”
Go girl, we are here for you!
Estefania Mejia is our student from Colombia and she is absolutely passionate about Carpentry.
“At the beginning you feel: Wow it is a man’s world, right? But no – just because you are a woman, it doesn’t mean you can’t do it. We can do it! It is very rewarding!” says Estefania.
And she encourages other women to do the same: “ Being a woman doesn’t stop you from doing things. Go and do whatever you want to do!”
Here at Orange we believe that the Construction Industry should be equal and welcoming to women where they can fully participate.
