Orange College adopts a blended learning model that combines structured online delivery with face-to-face simulation training methods to provide flexibility and support student engagement.

Campus locations

Training is delivered through a blended model. Theory classes are delivered online via Zoom. Simulated activities are conducted at Orange College campus and/or designated Simulation Lab facilities, with detailed information regarding locations and schedules provided throughout the course. Practical sessions may also be conducted at external locations equipped with appropriate laboratory facilities and equipment to support students’ learning outcomes.

Duration

This qualification will be delivered as

full-time study over a total duration of

17 weeks, which includes:

• 12 weeks of training,

• 2 weeks of term break, and

• 3 weeks of structured work placement

and/or RPL and CT.

Course overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualized plan to provide person-centered support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

These individuals take responsibility for their own outputs within the scope of their job role and delegation. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centered support.

The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

Packaging Rules

To be awarded the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support learners must be deemed competent in a total of 15 units, consisting of: 9 core units, and 6 elective units, as specified in the qualification packaging rules published on training.gov.au

Elective units of competency can be selected as follows:

  • At least 3 units from those units listed under Group A or B
  • The remaining units from any of the Groups A, B or C below
Packaging for each specialisation:
  • All Group A electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing).
  • All Group B electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).
  • All Group A and all Group B electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability).
