Meet Rajveer Singh!

Rajveer knew that there is a huge demand for tradespeople. Rajveer needed the technical knowledge and experience that comes with the Certificate III in Carpentry and Diploma of Building and Construction at Orange. 

As a regular labourer, it’s a hard job and you need to adjust quickly to a lot of different people, different worksites and expectations. Rajveer tells us, “after getting more of the technical skills, it’s a lot easier to get into the flow, and you can get your colleagues’ respect a lot more easily.” 

He now works for Agam Constructions as a Carpenter. At Agam Constructions, Rajveer is working on deckings. Rajvir says “When you know exactly how to implement different structures, you can maximise your results. For example now we are working on deckings and we need to consider the loadings. There are Australian standards across a broad range of jobs, and knowing these specifications actually makes the jobs much easier and predictable.”

Rajveer can highly recommend that students at Orange spend the time and energy needed to upgrade their skills. But along with the technical know-how, finding a great employer with people that will help you grow and lift you up is critical. There are lots of different workplaces, with varying characters and cultures of work. It’s important to find a place which suits you.
